Reporting to the China Business Affairs Manager, will work closely with the Support teams to ensure the company is operating within the law at all times with limited risk exposure and will play a key role in managing the rights for third-party content for social. This person will have a highly collaborative attitude and keep communication flowing efficiently to ensure rights are secured and processes are being followed with regard to third-party licensing, production, legal clearance, etc.
Summarized responsibilities will include:
o Function as the liaison between Support and Business Affairs as well as China teams with respect to communications materials created by
o Work with Business Affairs and print teams to clear third-party content as well as internal clearance, and track content expirations
o Collaborate with internal and external producers on productions, including NDAs, casting process, music, releases, and third-party content clearance
o Work with third-party entities to secure consent and clear rights when referencing their assets o Responsible for reviewing internal contracts and vendor agreements from a business affairs perspective, and overall risk management for the company
o Monitor and ensure compliance with procedures and policies with vendors, talent, licensing and publishing
o Facilitate internal communication between teams so projects are moving forward (flag local legal issues, content constraints, timing, etc.)
o Maintain weekly communication with team leads to make sure information is flowing properly, action items are clear, and issues are escalated at the right time and to the right people
o Maintain daily communication with Support team to address business affairs project status
o Work with multiple teams and provide legal perspective and counseling on a wide variety of matters, including trademarks and copyrights
o Assess, manage and communicate risks, and advise team leads concerning risk, exposure, and strategic options
o Manage third party content and music review process
o Educate teams on legal and third-party content in order to ensure teams are working efficiently o Maintain business affairs process deck, releases, and trackers for projects
Requirements for this position include:
o Bachelor degree required, Business Affairs experience preferred
o Knowledge of China law, filters, and language preferred
o 5+ years minimum advertising, marketing, or production management experience
o Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
o Strong communication skills and a calm approach
o Demonstrate an ability to be effective and to exercise influence in a complex organization; exercising sound strategic, legal and business judgment in challenging situations; independent and proactive
o Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees
o Team player willing to work with staff at all levels
o Excellent problem-solving skills and pragmatic legal judgment
o High degree of flexibility and availability to travel as needed
o Proficient on keynote, numbers, and pages
