Job Description

Your contribution at AIG


Lead overall operations of the Zhejiang Branch of AIG China including but not limited to:

  • Responsible for strategic planning, budget development/ownership, and accountability for execution;
  • Responsible for general management of business operations; develop and update appropriate business and operational strategies to generate positive business results. Ensure that processes and procedures are appropriately aligned with business strategies;
  • Understand corporate strategies and be able to set goals for each department to implement the plans; clearly communicate those goals to the department heads and initiate tools to measure the results of each department;
  • Achieve branch production and profitability targets;
  • Lead the development of distribution strategies, including synergies with the Home Office, and delivery of agreed results by distribution channels;
  • Provide strong leadership to maintain and further develop customer base;
  • Ensure that the branch staff provide customers with value-added services in terms of risk management;
  • Represent the branch with governmental and regulatory bodies where appropriate;
  • Responsible for people management and training; help develop and maintain an organizational model that supports the stated strategies; provide coaching and mentoring, and lead succession planning; ensure appropriate diversity and talent levels;
  • Responsible for risk control and governance; drive successful execution of key programs of change and business enablement; ensure that risks, resources and interdependencies are appropriately monitored and addressed;
  • Closely monitor risk and compliance matters as they impact the organization; ensure that any issues be effectively identified, tracked and addressed;
  • Maintain effective communications with management and staff; and
  • Responsible for miscellaneous administration matters.


What we are looking for

  • Bachelor degree or above with a major in insurance, finance, management, economics or other relevant subjects;
  • At least 10 years work experience in the insurance or financial services industry; at least 5 years as general manager of a branch operation or undertaking a significant managerial role in a small or medium-sized insurance company; start-up experience ideal;
  • Experience in underwriting or business development in the insurance industry required;
  • Strong leadership ability;
  • Balanced between strategic thinking and operational management;
  • Able to shoulder as well as delegate responsibility as appropriate;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills;
  • Good command of English, both speaking and writing; and
  • Entrepreneurial, assertive and team-spirited.
