Our West Chester Supply Site is a very dynamic and growing manufacturing site within the AstraZeneca Global Operations network and is located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to serving as the global COVID vaccine production site for AstraZeneca, the West Chester site encompasses Bulk API Microsphere manufacturing, Aseptic Pharmaceutical Formulation, multi-line Isolator/Barrier Vial and Syringe Filling, and specialty Packaging Operations for Vials and Auto-Injectors that supports growing franchises in Diabetes, Respiratory, and Vaccines. Our site is one of 30 production facilities in 18 countries with over 700 people collaborating to connect powerful medications to patients in more than 60 countries around the world. Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm Role
The Warehouse Material Coordinator will act as an additional point of escalation for warehouse personnel and will raise and investigate deviations as well as analyze and resolve inventory discrepancies. He/she will act as a Tank Farm Scheduler and backup Warehouse Team Leads on assigning workflow to material handlers. The coordinator will be responsible to update and create SOPs related to warehouse operations. This role will support both buildings to progress their Lean journey through:
- Leading Level Zero activities to reduce risk of errors and improve efficiency
- Driving further use of visual management tools
- Removing waste through 5S activity of both physical locations and virtual data.
The coordinator will collect, calculate, format and report key performance indicators for both warehouses on a monthly basis. The position will assist in managing relationships with external and internal customers and suppliers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as escalation for warehouse personnel for issue resolution. Employ experience and expertise in warehousing, logistics and supply chain management to resolve issues and problems within the function.
- Monitor tank farm levels and schedule tank farm tankers based on production schedule.
- Update and create SOPs documents in AZ’s document management systems.
- Raise and investigate deviations in TrackWise IDM. Additionally, raise complaints in TrackWise GCM.
- Lead Level Zero and Root Cause activities as required. Advance Lean focus in both buildings installing Visual Management tools, and lead waste removal activities such as 5S.
- Act as backup for Warehouse team leads to assign workflow to the warehouse material handlers.
- Troubleshoot inventory discrepancy issues related to electronic batch record system, shipping/receiving errors, or other issues as required. Determine root cause and create/drive to completion CAPA’s as needed.
- Collect, calculate, format and present monthly KPI’s for both buildings, presenting to Warehouse Facilitators, including robust PDCA analysis for problem areas.
- Assist Logistics function by booking shipments and generating documents.
Essential for the role:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a Lean warehouse environment, including receiving and distribution processes.
- Knowledge of cGMPs, SHE, DOT, FDA, SOX policies and regulations.
- Ability to understand and apply Lean principles, root cause identification, process improvements.
- Systems savvy – ability to become proficient in computer systems and applications.
- Excellent process management, analytical, communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, resolve problems, and develop solutions quickly.
- Ability to regularly interact with a large group of internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer skills, as well as SAP/APO experience.
- Knowledge of SAP, MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
Desirable for the role:
- Associate degree (Bachelor’s Degree a plus) in business, logistics or Engineering related field.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired business results.
- Knowledge of export documentation systems and/or transportation management systems.
- Certification in Supply Chain Logistics from an accredited institution.
