The University Marketing and Communications Office (UMC) at Xi’an jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) works to promote the University brand and reputation both domestically and globally. UMC is now recruiting a Video and multimedia Producer with a portfolio including video production and video content strategy.

The Video and Multimedia Producer will report to the team leader of Integrated Media Team, and collaborate closely with the Communications Team and the Marketing Team at UMC.

The Producer is responsible to generate video content that drives recruiting, online exposure and brand awareness. The producer collaborates with members of the Communications Team and the Marketing Team to identify, capture, and produce compelling video products.

Responsibilities

Content Development and Video Production:

Produce approximately one short video per week for release across the University’s digital channels.

Produce a variety of content such as trailers, features, interviews, event recaps and more.

Execute full production process: pitching, storyboarding, planning, budgeting, shooting, audio capture, editing, captioning, export/publishing to specifications for digital channels such as YouTube, Facebook, etc.

Shoot footage on DSLR cameras and video cameras.

Pitch ideas for video strategies around particular themes, topics, events, and promoting the University’s brand.

Edit quickly and implement feedback accurately.

Create motion graphics when called for.

Project Management and Administrative:

Project management skills.

Budget and schedule video shoots.

Maintain organised files, archives, and gear inventories.

Maintain and monitor the condition of gear.

Communicate project status updates with key personnel at UMC

Develop University Video and Photography Usage and Collection Standards and Guidelines.

Other:

Photograph events as needed (parties, donor events, classes, and more)

Train colleagues on basic camera usage and how to assist with certain aspects of the production process (import/export footage, basic editing, production assisting, etc.)

Execute other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred candidate will possess:

4+ years of related experience.

Bachelor’s degree or above in film/video production or equivalent experience.

Good written and verbal communication ability in both Chinese and English languages.

Expert knowledge of relevant Adobe Creative Cloud software (Premiere, AfterEffects, Photoshop, etc.)

Expert knowledge of DSLR cameras, lenses, lighting and audio setups in a range of environments.

Strong cinematic eye (composition, angles, lighting, movement, etc.).

Comfort working with a Mac OS.

Comfort working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

The ability to adapt to ever-changing priorities and circumstances.

Exhibits about storytelling, particularly in the context of a non-profit organisation.

Organisational and detail-oriented skills.

Exhibits problem–solving skills.

Strong knowledge of best practices for video on social and video channels.

Experience and interest in event photography is a plus.

The employee will be subject to a probation period.
