WHAT YOU’LL DO
Abbott’s Diagnostics Division currently has an opportunity for a USER EXPERIENCE/USER INTERFACE (UX/UI) DESIGNER. The UX/UI Designer is expected to serve as a critical contributor, applying user experience and user interface design principles to our complex and compelling informatics suite of products.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product owners, marketing leads and Human factors engineers (HFE)
Create user-centered designs by understanding business requirements, and user feedback
Work with other members of the design and product brand teams to create experiences that are engaging, useful, and solution oriented
Identify and troubleshoot UX problems
Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look
Drive user research activities including the creation of personas, journeys, wireframes, workflows, prototypes, and functional specifications.
Perform user research and testing
Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, widgets, navigation buttons, and search fields
Conduct testing of sample applications, and software to evaluate user experience and ease of design
Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers and key stakeholders
Optimize and improve user experience through design and usability best practices
Use market analysis, customer feedback, data analytics, and usability findings to tailor your designs to the customer to best solve their problems
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING
REQUIRED
Associate degree and 4+ years of experience
PREFERRED
A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Human Factors, Industrial Design, Usability, Engineering or equivalent.
3-5 years in User Experience (UX) design
Proficient in Sketch, Invision, and other design tools with a solid understanding of human centered UX and UI design principles.
A positive attitude and enthusiasm for the hard work required to solve UX challenges
An online portfolio of digital work demonstrating mastery in creating effective user-centered design solutions with measurable results
Passion, upbeat personality who collaborates well with others
Excellent communication skills, able to present logic, thought process and ideas as well as direct developers (internal and external) on implementation
Attention to Detail. You are willing to dive deep into customer pain points to root cause issues
Proactive problem solver loves pushing the boundaries of design, while being respective of digital limitations
Effective Collaboration with product, engineering, and management teams
Proven ability to work across a multi-disciplinary team environment
Strong eye for both visual as well as user centered solutions
Experience in user research and testing
Understanding of HTML, JavaScript and CSS that informs design and interaction decisions
Experience building and documenting Design Systems
