Job Description

Test Engineer:

 

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in testing and evaluating thermal solutions and materials.
Responsibilities and activities for this position include the following:

• Perform a wide variety of laboratory product performance tests following established procedures.
• Research and develop new procedures and create formal documentation for unique testing requirements.
• Design and develop new test equipment and/or fixtures which may include complex mechanical systems and instrumentation.
• Perform and analyze results of various tests with an understanding of the interactions between dissimilar materials.
• Use general gages and measuring instruments as well as complex inspection equipment.
• Utilize SolidWorks (preferred) or other CAD software to design fixtures and test equipment that may include mechanical systems, and electrical schematics.
• Use LabView and other data acquisition software.
• Participate in or lead Design of Experiments (DOE) activities.
• Research, specify and acquire laboratory and test supplies as needed.
• Understand and use basic statistical analysis tools.
• Write formal Engineering Test Reports and present them to fellow engineers.
• Frequent interaction with employees and suppliers.
• Maintain detailed test plans and schedules while supporting multiple projects concurrently

Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience.
  • Possess an academic foundation with knowledge, or experience in using test equipment of moderate complexity including thermal imaging, thermocouples, microscopes, programmable thermal chambers, and handheld measuring devices.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to understand and execute tasks as expected, and to prepare and present test data, observations, and trends using established standardized formats.
  • Hands-on experience with 3-D Cad software and familiarization with LabVIEW software, National Instruments DAQ hardware, and COMSOL or similar modeling preferred.
  • Knowledge of product testing standards such as ASTM, SAE, ISO, DIN, or similar
