The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is inviting applications for a Teaching Associate position to assist in the development of undergraduate courses with non-traditional pedagogy.
The appointee will be mainly responsible for providing support in the development and/or revamp of three undergraduate courses: (i) Modeling for Chemical and Biological Engineering, (ii) Integrated Chemical Process and Product Design, and (iii) Plant Design and Economics. He/she is expected to work with the course instructors and instructional designers to prepare online teaching materials (such as PowerPoint slides, reading materials, softwares, lecture videos and software walk-throughs), assist in developing application-based in-class activities including structured process/product design tasks, and perform other teaching-related duties as assigned. The project duration will last for 2 years.
The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering (or equivalent), plus at least 3 years of post-qualification experience. An advanced degree (MPhil or PhD) in chemical engineering (or equivalent) is strongly preferred. He/She should have coursework and/or work experience in chemical process and product design, and is passionate about innovativechemical engineering education. He/She should possess a demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, including the ability to write, edit and proofread highly technical teaching materials in chemical engineering. Strong information literacy skills, interpersonal skills, organization skills and time management skills are critical. Skills related to the development of online and multimedia learning resources, such as computer graphics, video editing, and e-learning platforms, are desirable.
