Job Description
KEY RESULT AREA MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
Teaching and learning
§ Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the Class Teacher and Head of TA.
§ Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes for students, help monitor their progress and feedback to the form Teacher and Head of TA .
§ Provide support for individuals and groups of students inside and outside the classroom
§ Undertake some teaching tasks with groups of students following plans as prepared by teachers
§ Assist class teachers in assessment and record keeping
§ Support students with emotional/behavioural issues and help develop their social and personal skills
§ To encourage and support the skills of independence and self reliance
§ Undertake routine tasks to support the curriculum and assist with events e.g outings, field trips and take responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher
§ Provide feedback to students in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher
§ Provide feedback to teachers through verbal or written notes
§ Prepare resources and materials for new student arriving in school throughout the academic year
§ Support the teacher in creating a positive learning environment
§ Increased student/teacher/ parent satisfaction regarding class support
§ Administrative/additional duties
§ Photocopying and creating resources in order to support learning and teaching
§ Present displays of students' work
§ Assist in classroom preparation and clearing up
§ Assist with supervising students during break and lunch times as per the school timetable
§ As appropriate, look after sick/hurt/upset students and attend to physical needs where appropriate
§ Undertake bus supervision duties under the direction of school administrative staff§ Increased student/teacher/ parent satisfaction regarding class support
§ Increased parent satisfaction regarding school bus service.

§ Attend team and staff meetings where necessary

Qualifications/Training
§ College’s Degree or above (preferably in Education, English etc)Essential

§ Practical knowledge of equipment, including IT equipment where appropriate, to support learning in a variety of lessons and learning environments either on a one-to-one basis or small groups, under the direction and supervision of the teacherEssential
§ Ability to recognise changes in students' behaviour and report to the teacherEssential
§ Ability to complete straightforward paperwork e.g. incident report formEssential
§ Ability to communicate clearly with students and othersEssential
§ Ability to explain straightforward tasks and activities to students under the direction of the teacher.Essential
§ Ability to follow written and verbal instructionsEssential
