Principal Accountabilities

• To provide engineering input including concept design and drawings, BOM structures, GA drawings, P&ID’s, O&M manuals, manufacturing drawings, PDF construction and compilation of technical training programs.
• To be responsible for RMI’s MA approval for all mining equipment.
• Rationalisation of existing products and component parts.
• Product improvements for lower material, lower cost and improved reliability.
• Preparation of technical information for overhaul systems.
• To project manage all related overhaul projects, project files & manuals.
• To work closely with members of other departments, coordinating fast and accurate responses to ensure the highest standards of customer service.
• To be actively responsible for your own and others’ health and safety.
• To actively develop your skills and technical knowledge including taking part in on or off the job training.
• To pro-actively communicate and work with members of your own and other departments to ensure standards of service to customers and business objectives are achieved.
• To support operations during overhaul system build
• To support the service team during commissioning, travel to customer sites (including mine sites) will be required.

Essential Experience

• Hydraulic and mechanical engineering design, preferably on rotating equipment

• Creating and delivering innovative engineering solutions

• Solid Works and autoCAD skills to a good/high level

• Understanding of fluid power systems

• Design of equipment for use above 100 bar

• Experience of performing FEA

• Knowledge of MA approvals

Desirable Experience

• Minimum of five years’ experience working in a design department or similar engineering environment.

• Design of hydraulic pumps and/or valves

• Understanding of variable speed drives and motors

• Design to ATEX, MA, PED and CE standards

• Design experience with medium/heavy engineering

• Mining and/or oil and gas industry experience

• Experience of vehicle engine design or positive displacement plunger pump design

• Project management experience

• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing experience

• Experience of a product data management system

Qualifications & Skills

• College degree & above in a relevant engineering subject, ideally Mechanical Engineering

• Good communicator

• Strong problem solving skills. The ability to write reports/complete paperwork accurately and legibly.

• The ability to plan and manage a varied workload and have a pro-active and flexible attitude.

• Self-motivation and commitment to achieving high standards of quality and efficiency.
