Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Plans and coordinates day-to-day functions to ensure the operation and maintenance of COT applications layered upon Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems and applications connecting to SQL Server, Oracle, and proprietary databases.  Includes backup/restore services and SAN storage support.
  • Determines solution(s) for moderately complex system problems. Troubleshoots and evaluates hardware and software.
  • Guides and develops the plan for the implementation of system changes or upgrades including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration, compliance, and safety between the business and IT.
  • Participate in planning for future applications or solutions based on new technology.
  • Serve in the role of  primary contact with the vendor as well as the business users
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • The ideal candidate will have some prior experience with supporting analytics type applications like IBM Big insights
  • Some knowledge of Hadoop File systems is desired
     
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
  • Patching – Planning and deploying application fixes and patches
  • Solutions – Analyze solutions for problems and discuss with management
  • Interactions with various levels if IT and client serving teams.
  • Prepare and publish KPI (key performance indicator) and periodic reports, Technical solution and SOP documentation
 
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
 
Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of Windows/Linux OS
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • 3+ years of system and application administration support and some familiarity of application development best practices
  • Strong understanding of standard application architecture and development
  • Extensive knowledge Windows Server operating systems including Windows Server 2003 and 2008.
  • Knowledge of various infrastructure applications including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Prior experience in establishing and supporting automated application monitoring  protocols
  • Added advantage if possess IT network and security knowledge with troubleshooting skills
 
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Some Leadership skills preferred
  • Sound judgment and analytical ability
  • Strong documentation skills – MS Word, Excel, Projects and Visio
  • The ability to work effectively with clients, management and staff members
  • Experience in maintaining mission critical production environments
  • Working knowledge in ITIL Incident Management
 
Other Requirements:
  • The job may require to work on extended hours and weekends
  • The job may require to work on different time zone due to global responsibilities
  • The job may require travel to other Global Data Centers
 
Job Requirements:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
 
Experience:
Approximately 3+ years of experience in related technology
