Job Description
Purpose of the role:
The Energy division of global engineering consultancy DNV GL works at the cutting edge of renewable energy. Our expertise helps clients around the world to get the most out of wind farms, solar farms and new technologies including wave, tidal and energy storage. The Software Tools & products (STP) department is our in-house software team designing, creating and managing applications relied upon by engineers across the renewable energy industry on desktop, web and mobile platforms.
We are looking for a capable and motivated engineer to offer technical support to our customers in Asia, as well as carrying out testing work on the engineering models in the Bladed software.
Key Accountabilities:
Bladed & Tidal Bladed
Bladed provides worldwide wind/tidal turbine and component manufacturers, certification agencies, design consultants and research organizations with a design tool that has been extensively validated against measured data from a wide range of turbines. It is the global industry-leading wind and tidal turbine design tool.
We are seeking an engineer who is able to build excellent relationships with customers by providing a high-quality support service. They should also be capable of carrying out thorough testing of the engineering modeling functions of our product. As a member of the Bladed team the successful applicant will be expected to:
1.Carry out testing of new and existing software features to ensure numerical accuracy and good software usability for Asian customers
2.Provide technical support of the software to Asian customers. Initially this will be 1st line support but in the longer term the role will expand to include 2nd line support
3.Integrate with the development team in Bristol, helping them to understand customer needs and priorities
4.Work closely with the Bladed product owner and the sales team to seek out market opportunities relating to improved support provision
5.Provide timely feedback about support and testing outcomes to the development team including all information needed to make any necessary changes to the code
After 12 months
1.Carry out training for customers
2.Work at customer sites, possibly for extended periods
3.Build an understanding of the software usage through testing, support work and customer interaction in order to contribute to the software development roadmap

The successful applicant will have an important role in advancing the development and expanding the reach of the world’s market-leading wind turbine design software.
