Job Description

Line Supervisor/Manager: Site Manager
Technical Authority: Site Manager

Principal Purpose:
To ensure that the labour allocated to their section of the scope of work operates in accordance with the safety, quality and site procedures, thereby meeting contract and Doosan Babcock requirements.

 

  1. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
    1. Minimum Qualifications
      Third Party training
      CCNSG Safety Passport Training
      Technical (or equivalent) in Erecting
      Managing Safely Certificate
      Appointed Person Certificate
    2. Preferred Qualifications
      Technical (or above) in Supervisory Management or equivalent
      Lifting Equipment Inspection
    3. Minimum Experience
      3 years advanced craftsman status as an Erector/Rigger
      1 year experience as a Chargehand
      2 years managing lifting operations on site.
    4. Preferred Experience
      Significant and appropriate experience in Rigging and lifting operations as both a gang member and Lead hand/chargehand, experienced in using various lifting equipment including cranes within the Industry Sector.

  2. KEY COMPETENCIES
    1. Knowledge & understanding of the legal, practical and company safety requirements.
    2. Ability to execute work in the relevant section to the level of productivity required under the contract.
    3. Knowledge of the technical requirements associated with their specific discipline.
    4. Knowledge and effective application of company and client quality procedures.
    5. Ability to effectively manage and resolve first line industrial and employee relation issues.
    6. Basic understanding of company administration procedures e.g. timesheets and reports etc.
    7. An awareness of related contract issues such as:
      - Commercial/Financial status
      - IT
      - Planning function and programming
    8. Knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations particularly BS7121or Equivalent and the ACOP, LOLER with respect to Management of Lifting Operations.
    9. Experience of completing complex lifting plans and rigging studies, method statements and risk assessments.
    10. Knowledge of the types of lifting operations and lifting equipment within the industry, with a good knowledge of the in-service inspection requirements and record keeping systems
    11. Knowledge of crane berthing, and setting up winches, including knowledge of multi sheave reeving and rigging arrangements

  3. KEY DUTIES
    1. Carry out toolbox talks
    2. Monitor Hazard awareness
    3. Implement safety procedures e.g. risk assessments, method statements, permit to work etc.
    4. Allocate and monitor given tasks to those under their control to achieve the required levels of performance and productivity.
    5. Full engagement with Improvement Observation process.
    6. Sharing of lessons learned and best practices via IQ process.
    7. Awareness of OMP Process.
    8. Continuously reinforce Focus2Zero message for all site activities including error traps and Focus2Zero Error Prevention Tools.
    9. Coach and mentor members of the team.
    10. Drive site performance and productivity.
    11. Ensure that post job assessments are carried out for all personnel in line with event completion dates.

  4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
    1. To ensure that all site lifting and lifting related operations and other tasks under their supervision are carried out in a safe manner, free of risk to all members of the workforce.
    2. To plan, organise and execute the lifting operation within their scope to achieve
    3. To advise the section engineer in ensuring the correct lifting operation methods are employed, and to carry out the required tasks ensuring safe working environment is maintained.
    4. To ensure the quality standards are achieved by implementing quality procedures advising section/quality engineers of problems with procedures and standards of workmanship and cooperation in the resolution.
    5. To handle effectively all first line disciplinary, grievance and performance management issues.
    6. To complete those administrative tasks required under the scope of the contract.
