Job Description

Line Supervisor/Manager: Site Manager
Technical Authority: Delivery Operations Manager DGSC

Principal Purpose:
To co-ordinate, monitor and supervise the supply, services, installation and erection of subcontracts at site ensuring execution of the defined work scope of contracts in accordance with the quality, safety and site procedures thereby meeting contract and Doosan Babcock requirements.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

      Relevant technical certificate qualification
    2. Preferred Qualifications
      Relevant HNC/Degree qualification
    3. Experience
      Project Control Skills
      Interpersonal and communication skills
      Microsoft Office capability
      Supply chain Management
      Minimum 5 years’ experience working in thermal power environment

  2. KEY COMPETENCIES
    1. Knowledge & understanding of the legal, practical and company safety requirements.
    2. Ability to manage and maintain the subcontractors’ level of productivity to that required under contract.
    3. Knowledge and application of the company and client quality procedures
    4. Ability to liaise with Subcontract management to ensure that recorded meetings are held to identify relevant interfaces for the contract and identify lines and methods of communications.
    5. Appreciation of the company IT, commercial, planning systems and their application.

  3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
    1. Facilitate development and implementation of subcontractor recovery programmes if any deviation to original programme occurs.
    2. Liaise between DB activities and subcontractor activities and manage / coordinate all interfaces.
    3. Issue work instructions to subcontractors.
    4. Review subcontracts against programme and report accordingly.
    5. Audit subcontractor safety and quality performance and take action where necessary.
    6. Check actual site progress against that claimed by contractor on claims / invoices to allow Commercial Engineer to approve valuation.
    7. Monitor and evaluation of subcontractor performance.
    8. Report upward on subcontractor performance.
    9. Handle variations to work scope and report accordingly.

  4. KEY DUTIES
    1. To understand and comply with the requirements of OP-90-00-007 Sub-contract Control.
    2. To liaise with Site Manager, Resident Engineer and Planning Engineer to gain full understanding of the scope of work, terms and conditions and commercial requirements of the subcontracts.
    3. Responsibility to establish methods and lines of communication with subcontractors.
    4. To ensure that all subcontract operations under supervision are carried out in a safe manner free of risk to all.
    5. Responsibility for the co-ordination, surveillance and monitoring of subcontractors under supervision
    6. Responsible for the formal issue of all subcontractor work instructions for operations to be carried out, including any additional work not in the original work scope.
    7. To ensure that all subcontract operations are carried out to the appropriate quality standards as set by the company quality systems.
    8. Responsibility to liaise with subcontract management/supervision to ensure operations are completed to the required levels of productivity and in line with main programme requirements.
