The appointee will report to the Head (Counseling and Wellness) in the provision of (a) personal counseling for students individually or in groups for remedial or developmental purposes; (b) cross-cultural counseling to assist local, Chinese Mainland or international students in maximizing the benefits from their educational experience; (c) workshops, seminars and orientation activities regarding student mental health, developmental issues, academic concerns and life skills; (d) intervention for students, faculty and staff in crisis situations; and (e) consultation services to faculty and staff regarding the mental health problems and development of individual students.

The appointee is expected to work in close collaboration with academic departments and non-academic offices to help students resolve personal concerns and acquire the skills, attitudes, abilities and insights that will enable them to meet the challenges of student life.

Applicants should have a master’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, educational psychology, psychological counseling or equivalent from universities in Hong Kong or overseas; and should be registered or be eligible to register with the Hong Kong Psychological Society, or certified by the Hong Kong Professional Counseling Association or other internationally well-recognized professional bodies. They should be fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as group work and crisis intervention skills are required.  Preference will be given to those with demonstrated ability to work with students at tertiary educational level, and have enthusiasm in enhancing the educational goals of the Counseling and Wellness Center. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
