Staff Product Engineer (Customer Support)

Summary
SunPower is seeking a Staff Product Engineer to be part of the world class engineering group at SunPower Corporation. This person should be an independent thinker and self-driven individual with demonstrated ability to deliver results under demanding environment and timeline. In this role, he/she will be responsible for technical supports for customers, troubleshooting field issues, and helping product improvements. This position will work closely with customers, sales team, quality team, manufacturing engineering team and R&D group to support existing products and new products.

Key Responsibilities

• Primary technical point of contact, who Interfaces with Customers, Sales, Marketing, Quality and Manufacturing with a focus on customer-related tasks for new and existing products
• Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis for customer complaints and field return PV modules
• Support customer applications and system development to support the sales
• Manage small volume customized orders and/or prototype build for customers
• Support customers’ certification for specific countries
• Visit customers’ site for technical support and gather the onsite information
• Support internal and external customers for field performance and degradation analysis
• Support new product development and introduction to market
• Identify improving opportunities for PV modules and systems

Minimum Requirements

• B.S. degree in Engineering and 5+ years of related experience or M.S. Degree and 3+ years of related experience
• Experience in Photovoltaics and/or Semiconductor industry required preferably in technical support roles
• Fluent in Chinese and English

Preferred Requirements

• 3 years plus experience in engineering roles in major PV module companies
• Very knowledgeable about PV module design, manufacturing process, electrical characteristics, reliability degradation mechanisms and quality systems
• Familiar with PV system design and field performance analysis
• Excellent communication, written and presentation skills
• Ability to lead technology/quality task force: 1) Proven problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency; 2) ability to lead cross-functional teams thru effective meeting management; 3) Demonstrates analytical thinking and challenges other’s opinions by speaking up.

• Strong hands-on, troubling shooting and root cause analysis skills
• Strong work ethics, able to work well in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
• Team player, that can work well independently. Fast learner, with good judgement skills
• Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize and multi-task
• Ability to work with remote employees and be managed remotely, work well independently

• Can work flexible hours if needed and with short notice
• Be willing to travel (domestic and international) for business trips with short notice (up to 50%)
