Our West Chester Supply Site is a very dynamic and growing manufacturing site within the AstraZeneca Global Operations network and is located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio.  In addition to serving as the global COVID vaccine production site for AstraZeneca, the West Chester site encompasses Bulk API Microsphere manufacturing, Aseptic Pharmaceutical Formulation, multi-line Isolator/Barrier Vial and Syringe Filling, and specialty Packaging Operations for Vials and Auto-Injectors that supports growing franchises in Diabetes, Respiratory, and Vaccines.  Our site is one of 30 production facilities in 18 countries with over 700 people collaborating to connect powerful medications to patients in more than 60 countries around the world.    We focus on providing a collaborative environment where everyone feels comfortable and able to be themselves.  Being able to bring your full self to work every day is at the core of AstraZeneca’s priorities. The Senior Warehouse Facilitator is responsible for independent decision making for the operation of the warehouse and serves as the owner of the warehouse processes related to receiving, storage, handling, disposing and supply of all materials for production.  In this capacity, the Senior Warehouse Facilitator manages the warehouse and materials handling operations on site to ensure no disruptions to the production processes.  This individual has primary responsibility for the personnel, facilities and equipment within the operating area. This will include personnel responsibilities across multiple shifts and to effectively collaborate with Process Facilitators within the site to optimize quality and performance of the operation.  As a responsible leader, they must maintain effective employee relations and compliance to cGMP, other regulatory, and SOX requirements, as well as SHE obligations and AstraZeneca standards.

What you'll do:

Day Shift Role

  • Responsible for the managing all warehouse activities related to receiving, storage, handling, disposing and supply of all materials (direct and indirect/raw materials and WIP) into the production process to include coordination of support staff, scheduling and improvement initiatives.  This coordination will be across shifts and with the PETs.  This individual must have the ability to manage large groups and meet performance management goals.
  • Process Owner/SPOC for
    • DOT regulations
    • Importation/Foreign trade zone
    • Commercial vehicle management
    • Controlled substances and DEA Regulations
    • Temperature monitoring
  • Accountable for monitoring the freight claim process including follow up with insurance adjusters.
  • Accountability for cycle counting of materials being completed accurately and on time to meet SOX requirements.
  • Manage delivery appointments and direct workload to ensure resources are balanced and at sufficient capacity.
  • Monitor status of materials and batches stored in the Warehouse and ensure timely disposition.
  • Works collaboratively with the PETs to ensure optimal flow of product.
  • Develop and manage the groups operating budget within agreed performance parameters.
  • Promotes the use of safe work practices for all warehouse activities and ensures all external and AstraZeneca SHE standards are met on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that cGMP’s are used for all products so that all FDA and international regulations are met.
  • Promotes an inspection ready mind set especially with Housekeeping.
  • Promotes a positive work environment by effectively administering AstraZeneca Human Resources policies and procedures including Performance Management and by communicating information to employees and responding to their concerns.
  • Ensures proper documentation practices are maintained consistently to company standards in warehouse documents, training documentation, logs, etc.
  • Authors, reviews, and approves Standard Operating Procedures and other documents to ensure integration of cGMPs. 
  • Reviews, approves, and implements change control, in particular in relation to New Product Introduction and Asset Strategy projects.
  • Accountable for training of Warehouse personnel on equipment, processes and Standard Operating Procedures.  Partners with Learning representatives and Coaches to develop training plans and assist in providing resources for training.
  • Promotes and encourages continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, production, and safety through the use of team driven processes and key performance indicators and recognition and rewarding high performance. 
  • Generates reports for deviations, assists in the investigations, and recommends/implements solutions to resolve deviations – in line with site lead time targets.  Approves deviation investigations as appropriate.
  • Delivers excellent CAPA completion performance for the warehouse.
  • Collaborates with Maintenance Facilitator and Warehouse System owner to optimize performance and efficiency of all assets through implementation of Maintenance and Warehouse Excellence programs.
  • Co-owns life cycle management of Warehouse equipment and facilities assets.
  • Participates in the design, selection, installation and qualification of new equipment and facilities.
  • Provides career development, coaching and motivation through performance management for direct reports.
  • Takes part in the Facilities Management and Engineering Weekend on Call Program.
  • As this role is accountable for multishift activities, there is a requirement to work first, second, third and weekend shifts to ensure appropriate coverage/oversight for the team and to engage all FME personnel in continuous improvement and system ownership activities.
  • On call support when required.

Essential for the role:

  • Bachelor of Science required in Engineering, Pharmacy, related Science or business.
  • Minimum of 4 years previous supervisory or project management experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years in GMP or regulated environment, with specific responsibility for material logistics
  • Knowledge of FDA cGMP’s..
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to direct and participate in cross-functional teams. 

Desirable for the role:

  • Experience working in a LEAN manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of  Microsoft applications, SAP, Trackwise
  • Experience in Warehouse and Distribution 
  • Foreign Trade Zone
  • DEA Experience
  • APICS Certification
