Position Description:

The person in this position is responsible for leading and executing all food and companion product development for China market, overseeing clinical studies with third parties for product registrations in China; ensuring the compliance of animal welfare, quality, and HSE per Elanco’s standards. This person also provides leadership to the Elanco China R&D team and shapes the China R&D strategy, team development activities and external collaborations.

Key Leadership Functions, Duties. Task:

• Provide leadership and technical expertise in defining China R&D Strategy – portfolio, capabilities and talent development
• Take responsibility of executing pharmaceutical, biological and nutritional product development for China market
• Oversight the execution of Chinese GLP/GCP regulations in applicable studies for new product registration in China
• Perform study design, protocol and report writing for product development for China market
• Manage R&D strategic alliances with Contract Research Organizations (CRO) and Third Parties such as professors in universities and research institutes that will enhance the productivity in execution of product R&D programs
• Establish and revise SOPs or processes associated with R&D activities to continuously improve group performance
• Find solutions to meet novel internal and external customers' needs especially in the challenge situations
• Work effectively and flexibly to achieve overall Elanco R&D group deliverables in a high quality, timely, cost-effective manner
• Manage budgets and timelines of experimental projects or programs
• Create an engaging culture with a "Play to Win" mentality
• Lead and coach internal research associates
• Offer technical guideline and sound scientific approach to product development
• Demonstrate wide networking ability across the industry and Elanco Global R&D
• Perform best to comply with Elanco quality system

Minimun Qualification

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D product development
• M. S. or Ph. D. in veterinary/animal sciences, chemistry, microbiology or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Chinese native speaker, fluent in English.

Other Information

• Domestic/International travel (25%) required.
