Sr. Project Manager – Warehouse and Distribution Operations

Job Summary:

The Sr Manager primary responsibilities include maintaining and improving Louisville Distribution Center Operations capability and reliability, meeting key performance metrics, supervising, and technically developing direct reports, staff management, and ensuring all targets and milestones are completed on time and on the budget. The position will require excellent organizational, administrative leadership, project management, technical problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic organization, with a demanding environment. The position also requires the ability to leverage various resources across Amgen network.

Primary objectives:

  • Lead and execute high-priority process improvement initiatives and projects
  • Work cross-functionally with individuals, partners, clients, and project teams in the engineering, information systems, quality, and manufacturing networks
  • Apply project management best practices in the development, initiation, planning, execution, control & closing of projects
  • Work with functional leadership to help create and drive Operational Excellence strategy for the organization
  • Provide change management assistance to projects facing organizational or major process challenges
  • Deliver high quality and timely results via the use of appropriate methodologies and tools and other key domain expertise
  • Provide mentorship to less experienced staff and educate key functional area leadership/staff
  • Serve as primary project interface to customers, project champions/sponsors and steering committees
  • Establish / alignment / governance & reporting of goals
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and support business reviews
  • Coordinate and communicate monthly updates
  • Project Portfolio Management
  • Manages new technology introductions (NTIs) and New Process Introductions (NPIs)
  • Ensure site readiness and compliance
  • Ability to translate strategy into challenging, actionable objectives to effectively drive a team, advocate client positions throughout the life cycle of the project, and make value-based decisions
  • Maintain compliant training records

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience OR
  • Master’s degree and 4 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of supply chain business processes (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver & Return)
  • Understanding of industry requirements (GMP, GDP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired but not required
  • MS, MBA or PhD
  • 7 or more years of experience in cross-functional pharmaceutical development project teams and/or experience with project management practice within the healthcare industry
  • Ability to analyze abstract and complex problems requiring evaluation of intangible variables
  • Ability to develop innovative and creative output based on interpretation and analysis
  • Demonstrated success in Operational Excellence and major change management initiatives
  • Experienced with data diagnostics, discovery, modeling, and visualization (i.e. Tableau, Excel)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working in a global environment, ability to liaise/communicate effectively at different management levels
  • Fluency in English, written and verbal
  • Self-leadership and motivation
  • High personal integrity
