Summary

This position is responsible for providing engineering support to manufacturing areas, including optimizing equipment performance, writing engineering, and validation documents. Will analyze manufacturing processes and suggest improvements and take projects from feasibility and concept development through testing, implementation, operational start up and training. Responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes and manufacturing equipment, identifying process improvements and resolving engineering problems using lean manufacturing techniques and other problem solving tools. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned)

  • Troubleshoot automated assembly line equipment and implement corrective actions to repair and bring the equipment back to its original operating conditions.
  • Supports automated assembly lines that utilizes manufacturing process such as ultrasonic welding, robotics, packaging, sterilization, label printing, gantry systems, vision systems and custom electro-mechanical systems.
  • Participates in continuous improvement projects and utilizes problem solving tools such as A3 to resolve complex problems.
  • Works on assigned non- conformance and CAPA tasks as required by the engineering department.
  • Writes and/or executes qualification protocols for various pieces of equipment.
  • Creates capital expenditure requests to procure, install and validate new equipment to support manufacturing needs.
  • Designs fixtures and assembly aids to improve manufacturing process.
  • Performs engineering studies on equipment to determine proper settings, control points, etc. including data gathering during start up and test batches.
  • Initiates new or revisions of protocols/operating instructions specific to the project.
  • Creates, reviews Preventive Maintenance/Calibration procedures for current and new equipment.
  • Performs work assignments within production department that include training, technical support and/or process trouble shooting support.
  • Must be able to work in an environment without daylight / windows.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree or above in an Engineering field required (preferred: Electrical Engineering,

    Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from a foreign university)

  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience.
  • Experience working in cGMP and regulated industries such as Medical Device, Pharma is preferred.
  • Experience working in automated assembly lines that utilizes manufacturing process such ultrasonic welding systems, robotics, packaging, sterilization, label printing, gantry systems, vision systems, custom electro-mechanical systems is preferred.

Physical / Safety Requirements

  • Ascends/descends ladders to access machinery.
  • Lifting and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move in excess of 50 pounds using lifting aids, techniques, or appropriate assistance.
  • Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends.
  • Use of hands and fingers to manipulate equipment is required.
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing and crawling.
