Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- This person will be able to efficiently applies human factors engineering principles to the design, development, and testing of medical products while working on cross-functional program teams.
- Actively plans, schedules, and leads human factors engineering strategy for innovating new and improving existing medical products with product stakeholders (customers, marketing, and engineering)
- With minimal direction, responsible for directing and coordinating all activities necessary to complete a major human factors engineering project or several small projects.
- Designing and executing tests to simulate product use for verifying and validating product performance, reliability, and usability.
- Create and communicate project plans, tasks and deliverables and manage time to meet project deadlines. This includes reporting pertinent information at key milestones through clear, concise oral and written communications.
- Applies hands-on skills in usability testing and measurement in areas of hardware, software, and disposable products.
- In partnership with other R&D teams, develop product prototypes to explore and validate user interfaces and demonstration prototypes.
- Lead efforts to develop process and procedures that align to Baxter initiatives and relevant human factors standards.
- Presents and advises on human factors topics across the organization.
- Provide technical supervision to less experienced human factors engineers, and may be responsible for the management of a small work group.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in applying human factors techniques on programs across the product lifecycle from user research to prototyping to formative and summative product evaluation in areas of hardware, software, accessories, and /or disposable products.
- Proven expertise in the development of human factors methodologies in ergonomics, human computer/machine interface, and data collection/analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership for human factors engineering projects with substantial complexity and scope.
- Demonstrated ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment.
- Proven experience in the effective implementation of HFE requirements /standards.
- Ability to solve human factors engineering problems without assistance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in written and verbal form.
- Ability to decompose complex problems into actionable task lists.
- Understanding of Quality System Regulations (QSR)
- Understanding of design requirements for development, validation, and verification of medical products.
- Experience with operating in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA) with comprehension of implications for medical device and healthcare applications.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, highly prefer Human Factors and 8+ years of experience.Masters/PhD degrees preferred.
