The Senior Manager / Associate Director of Manufacturing Production is a Durham, North Carolina based position within AstraZeneca’s Inhalation Product Development function supporting respiratory products. We are situated in Research Triangle Park; the leading center of innovation in the Southeast!

This position will be hired as either a Senior Manager/Associate Director level depending on experience and capabilities.

What you will do:

Lead operations for manufacturing and packaging activities to support development of respiratory product pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including pressurized metered dose inhalers (pMDIs) and dry powder inhalers (DPI).

  • Empower, recruit and develop employees within manufacturing operations.

  • Build, mentor and sustain employee engagement by crafting a culture of efficient execution and continuous improvement in which individuals and teams can excel.

  • Develop and maintain the production schedule on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis with product development partners and ensure alignment/adjustment of manufacturing schedule to meet to goals and metrics.

  • Collaborate with CMC study leads, product development, clinical supply chain, and quality organizations to ensure project objectives are achieved to time and quality.

  • Support Quality activities, including investigations, CAPAs, change controls, and internal or external audits

  • Imbed the Lean Basic Conditions and promote Lean capability expansion within the team

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, science or engineering degree preferred.

Required:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of proven experience in GMP manufacturing operations in pharmaceutical industry.

  • Minimum of three (3) years leading a GMP production team - for example, proven ability to develop and manage high performance teams with a high degree of employee engagement.

  • Strong understanding of fundamentals of pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and equipment design.

  • Possesses working knowledge of Lean leadership and manufacturing principles

Preferred:

  • Understanding of worldwide cGMP and process requirements in late-stage and commercial manufacturing.

  • Proven successful record in Quality audits, both internal and external, in a development organization.

  • Experience in marketing application approvals, regulatory inspections and technology transfer

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented personality, and ability to work efficiently in an interdisciplinary team environment.
