We are currently looking for a

Senior Manager (m/w/d) Global Procurement

The Senior Manager, Global Procurement – Mechanical is responsible for implementing the sourcing strategies for global commodities or specific global programs for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD) in alignment with the Analytical Instruments Group (AIG).  The individual is chartered with implementing strategies aligned with specific business needs, building a strong functional organization, establishing best practices, negotiating global contracts with preferred suppliers, identifying, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

What will you do

• Leads global category management for assigned categories and accountable to deliver key category performance indicators, including: Savings, supplier rationalization, low-cost region sourcing, risk management, spend under agreement, joint innovation, supplier performance, etc.
• Drives cost management activities for the category: meet negotiation targets, drive value engineering ideation and support value engineering project execution.
• Contributes to the definition and implementation of the Global Sourcing Strategy and assures sourcing targets are met.
• Manage continuous supplier improvement in his/her commodity through supplier improvement plans and – if necessary – resourcing projects.
• Aligns team and category management processes to meet business needs and goals.
• Acts as the key interface with Thermo Fisher enterprise and groups ensuring alignment of strategies, and commitments.
• Interfaces with senior leaders to obtain sponsorship and resources to implement sourcing strategies that support their key objectives
• Manages a team of direct reports and matrix reports (regional and division category leaders or specialists).

• Degree in Business or technical field. 
• Minimum of 10 years procurement/sourcing experience with increasing global responsibility and experience in a large matrixed company environment.
• Business acumen – knows how the sourcing function and deliverables translate into meaningful business value. 
• Experience working in highly regulated industries, life sciences, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries are preferred
• Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year results. 
• Acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
• Influences without authority to motivate and manage cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams and drive them to success.
• Motivates staff and develops them to be future leaders in the organization.
