Accountabilities
Creates and implements annual sales plan to achieve Company’s international and global sales goals
Leads the development and implementation of world-wide strategies to grow long term relationships with assigned accounts for sales team
Works with operations management globally to ensure clear understanding of Company’s Sales Methodology processes, rules, and responsibilities
Participates in the ongoing review and update of Company business development and sales procedures to ensures consistency on an international basis
Directs global sales teams to identify, qualify, and close profitable clinical development projects that are within Company’s current and planned service capabilities
Assigns sales territories and strategic accounts to Account Managers
Ensures continuous market research by business development staff to target accounts, identify and qualify new business opportunities and maintain an active sales pipeline to achieve quarterly and annual targeted contract targets
Ensures implementation of Company’s Team Selling Methodology for every sales opportunity
Ensures sales teams develop winning strategies, project plans, client interactions, proposal creation, presentations, and closure of sales opportunities
Attends periodic meetings involving clients and Company’s senior management to discuss communicate client satisfaction, identify evolving client needs, and discuss opportunities to improve services and speed clinical development through new processes, methods, procedures, and technology
Creates annual Business Development Operating Plan
Mentors and develops employees to expand employee performance levels and retain high performing employees
Provides clear team and individual goals and expectations and ensure that each member of the sales staff understands her/his responsibility
Prepares career development plans, performance appraisals, salary actions, sale bonuses and all other administrative tasks for all direct reports in a timely manner according to company policy
Coaches and counsels direct reports with regard to performance and goal setting; provides timely feedback, fosters environment that supports staff development, provides necessary training and encourages excellence in leadership in business development
Qualifications
Experience in the clinical development field in resource scheduling, managing timelines, and leading team activities required
Prior budget and Profit and Loss management responsibility required
Managing professional staff or comparable team management experience required
Experience managing in a team-selling environment including developing accounts into “strategic” status and closing large international programs
Undergraduate degree in business or health sciences from an accredited institution, or their international equivalents
Advanced degree (M.S., M.B.A.) preferred
Targeted coursework in business (management, marketing, accounting), budgets, personnel management, negotiation skills, etc. preferred
Substantial consultative selling experience within the CRO Industry
Read, write and speak English; fluent in host country language required.
