Objectives of the Position: The purpose of this position is to manage the import/export compliance and operational activities as well as all efforts at the Pringy, France manufacturing site to ensure adherence with laws, improve operational efficiency and facilitate reduction of tariff and non-tariff barriers. The primary focus is the Pringy location but this position will also support other EU manufacturing sites in our network with tactical and compliance activities. Key responsibilities include coordinating all operational imports/exports, liaison with customs authorities and other relevant government agencies, provide guidance to local AbbVie business personnel, development & deploy trade compliance procedures/policies, lead audit defense related activities, and serve as a subject matter expert for the function. Primary Responsibilities: Ensure that all import/export transactions are in compliance with Customs Law Lead efforts with the site to resolve day-to-day issues that result in border delays Act as one of the primary points of contact with customs to address any requests for audits and inspections Provide guidance to local AbbVie business on matters concerning import & export requirements Manage the integrity of trade data (i.e. tariff code, country of origin) and support monitoring of the system in which they are maintained Provide guidance on documentation, tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin determinations Monitor trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes and alert the appropriate parties internally on the impact to the business Develop and drive solutions/strategies to issues faced by the businesses and the necessary controls around any change Support import/export/duty management and Trusted Trader projects that focus on driving efficiencies or cost savings for the company Provide training and knowledge sharing to improve business knowledge and operational performance and ensure compliance with importing/exporting regulations Manage the capturing and analyzing of metrics associated with the trade operation for reporting to leadership Partner with GTC functional managers to ensure proper audit protocols are followed so as to maintain compliance with customs law and internal policies Qualifications Proficient in English, a third language such as Italian, German is preferred University degree in a related field (e.g., international trade, supply chain, logistics, public management & policy, public revenue and treasury) Degree from a public customs academy or public finance 3-5 years of experience working in a broker’s agency, multinational company, or consulting firm, in customs authority Computer Skills.
