YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Sr Accountant, General Ledger, are to: 

• Make decisions which align with business strategy of key stakeholders, identifies and/or anticipates potential problems and issues and implements/recommends solutions;
• May provide training for colleagues in entry level roles, participates and possibly leads projects;
• Efficiently record, document and reconcile financial transactions accurately including performing variance analysis and apply improvements;
• Review, document and reconcile financial transactions accurately including performing complex variance analysis;
• High level knowledge of systems that impact accounting transactions and identify methods to improve efficiency;
• Support monthly and quarterly closing, consolidation and reporting processes and apply methods to improve efficiency;
• Enter manual journal entries related to one or more Bayer divisions;
• Supports key stakeholders and peers within the FACT community using technical knowledge and analytical skills;
• Apply advanced functionality into EXCEL worksheets and demonstrate strong Powerpoint slide development.

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree with 3+ years of Accounting, finance or relevant experience. MBA or CPA with 1+ years of relevant experience will also be acceptable;
• Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements of technical accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting in a corporate environment;
• Understanding the fundamentals of GAAP;
• Higher level of understand monthly and quarterly close processes and apply methods to improve efficiency;
• Demonstrated alignment with Bayer's Values (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility, and Efficiency).
• Comfortability to influence people and lead change, projects, and initiatives;
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels and with individuals from various parts of the organization;
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and interpret data in different forms for various purposes;
• Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and usage of sound judgment in making decisions;
• Motivated, self-starting individual;
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA preferred;
• Past experience in accounting/reporting for life science industry will be advantageous;
• SAP system experience.
