RTIOA is responsible for the distribution and placement of shipments of more than 330 Million tonnes per annum of Rio Tinto iron ore (RTIO) generating sales revenues exceeding US$18 Billion pa. The iron ore market continues to evolve with the competitive landscape becoming both more complex and fragmented. Understanding RTIO’s competitive strengths and then using this knowledge to drive superior margin performance through a combination of effective long term product placement and shorterterm tactical placement decisions is critical for continuing success, as the iron ore market transitions from being supply constrained to demand constrained
We are looking for a Specialist Technical Analysis to support technical marketing and provide timely advice on product value, business and industry context to our pricing, sales operations, sales and market analysis teams
This role is a great opportunity for a strong techno-commercial person who is passionate about technical marketing and helping businesses achieve their goals. Reporting to the Manager Technical Marketing – China, you will be:
? Analysing steel mills operation data and provide assistance to value in use (VIU) modelling work
? Analysing iron ores relativity dynamics with market and industry evolution
? Providing assistance to research projects, including environment protection, lump degradation, De- phos, high Al2O3 slag etc.
? Advising on scrap usage implications for still processing BOF - EAF
? Conducting regular assessment of China environmental policy and advising its impact on Iron and Steel cost.
? Working with commercial teams to achieve maximum sales revenues across all sales channels.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
? Relevant tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline including metallurgical/chemical/process/mining engineering.
? Strong knowledge of China iron and steel industry
? Strong knowledge of current and emerging needs of the industry ranging from technical products to environmental regulations etc.
? Strong knowledge of iron ore pricing, iron ore operations and steel making operations.
? Strong command of English language, verbal and written
It will also be beneficial if you have:
? Msc in a field related to iron making, steel making or iron ore/coal processing/mining
