DNVGL Digital Solution has a long history as provider of advanced software for design and analysis of marine propulsion systems and rotating machinery. Our software package Nauticus Machinery is used by ship yards and designers world-wide. To maintain and strengthen our position we are now looking for software developer strengthening our competent development team.

The main tasks for the successful candidates will be:

• Develop for products: Nauticus Machinery

• Shaft alignment analysis by finite element method

• Vibration analysis (torsional, axial and lateral vibrations) both in frequency domain and time domain

• Fatigue damage analysis by relevant theory like Palmgren-Miner linear damage hypothesis

• Shafts and shaft couplings

• Reduction gears

• Propellers and controllable pitch mechanism

• Ice class strength calculation regarding the relevant rules

• Programming in

• Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, Fortran

• Microsoft .NET framework

• Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)

• Responsible for the developing test and acceptance test

• Work closely with stakeholders in Oslo

• Development and organization of software training courses

• Support to our sales- and marketing staff in worldwide

• Planning and estimation of features in our Nauticus Machinery software package

• Verification and documentation of software

The candidate is to some extent co-operating with testers in Shanghai and developers in Norway. We are practicing agile (Scrum) software development and testing processes for all our products.

We are looking for candidates with capability and attitude to resolve complicated technical challenges working both independently and as a part of a team. It is an advantage to have domain competence in marine propulsion systems and rotating machinery. The successful candidate must be business oriented, self-disciplined and with interest in combining domain knowledge (marine engineering) with software programming skills.

Basic qualifications for the position are:

• Master or PhD in Marine Technology, Marine Machinery or equivalent

• Knowledge about fatigue and vibration analysis

• Knowledge about finite element method

• Good skill at matrix and numerical analysis method

• Some experience with software engineering, but this is not a prerequisite

• Some experience of programming in C# and ASP.net is preferred

• Curious to learn more about software engineering and product development

• Good verbal and written communications skills in English

• Analytical skills

• Ability to work in a team
