Join us! The HoloLens Sensors team is looking for a talented Software Development Engineer to build and test the software, tools, and infrastructure needed to advance the state-of-the-art for sensors in the products listed above and more!

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain multiple layers of software including sensor firmware, embedded processing, device drivers, application layer APIs, and high-level tools & GUIs 
  • Develop world class code, tools, documentation, and reports suitable for direct product integration 
  • Participate actively in detailed design, code reviews, bug/issue triage with feature teams and support well informed decisions towards engineering, customer and business goals 
  • Collaborate with other experts on the Sensors team to prototype new technologies, algorithms, formfactors, and incubate our product roadmap 
  • Leverage software development best practices including code reviews, test methodology, and documentation 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • BS in Computer Science or similar (mathematics, EE, etc.), or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of related industry experience 
  • Deep native development skills using C/C++ 
  • Outstanding technical problem solving and debugging ability 
  • Proven experience collaborating across disciplines and broad teams 
  • Self-motivated to learn and execute with attention to detail in documentation and execution 
  • Ability to handle technical and design ambiguity 
  • Experience working in a lab setting with hands-on equipment 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or similar, or an equivalent combination of work experience 
  • Experience with Python programming 
  • Experience with MATLAB programming 
  • Experience working with distributed software project management tools such as those in Azure DevOps: 
  • Planning & Execution Management (Kanban Boards, Scrum Sprints) 
  • Version Control (Git) 
  • Documentation (Wiki, Sphinx) 
  • Automated Test/Continuous Integration (Pipelines, Jenkins, *CI, or similar) 
  • Experience with any/all of the following are a plus: 
  • Performance critical code such as SIMD processor extensions or GPU programming 
  • Digital image sensors 
  • Image processing 
  • Computer Vision 
  • UI frameworks 
  • DevOps / Infrastructure 
  • SW Automation 

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
