Applications are invited for the following post in the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development, which is located in the Hong Kong Science Park.

Senior Research Assistant (Basic Sciences) (2 positions) (PR0092/20-21)

The appointee will participate in research projects relating to cutting-edge new drug development with Chinese herbal medicine.

Job Duties:

• To focus on new drug discovery in traditional Chinese medicine or investigate the basic mechanism for gastrointestinal diseases, including inflammatory bowel diseases and functional constipation; and
• To undertake any other duties as assigned.
  
  

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant post-qualification experience, or a master’s degree, in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Science, or a related discipline;
• Research experience in Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Gut Microbiology, Pharmaceutics or Investigational New Drug (IND) application;
• Knowledge of gut microbiome and metabolic disorders, immunology, gut barrier dysfunction would be advantageous; and
• Organised, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team.
  
  

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
