Purpose of the role

Takes full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines).

Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.

Ensures that realistic project plans are maintained and ensures regular and accurate communication to stakeholders.

Adopts appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

Ensures Quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure.

Manages the change control procedure, and ensures that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off.

Provides effective leadership to the project team, and takes appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances

Collects supplier performance data and investigates problems.

Monitors and reports on supplier performance in project delivery, customer satisfaction, and market intelligence.

Validates that suppliers' performance is in accordance with contract terms.

Engages proactively and collaboratively with suppliers to resolve incidents, problems, or unsatisfactory performance.

Implements supplier management-related service improvement initiatives and programmes.

Basic Skills/Experience

  • Broadly skilled in information and communications technology.
  • Has a comprehensive knowledge of relevant system development life-cycles.
  • Is familiar with the requirements of the organisation for systems, products and services and with the use of systems, products and services and/or components provided by suppliers.
  • Appreciates contracting procedures within the organisation and has some experience in the development and operation of an SLA.
  • Has sound commercial, organisational and time management skills.
  • Pays attention to detail and has good interpersonal skills.

  • Highly desirable - Experience of delivering IT systems through the delivery cycle
  • Highly desirable - Experience of working in regulated industries such as Pharmaceuticals or Food.
