Purpose of Position

To establish the strategic marketing strategy for single copy standards marketing and work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager to increase sales of single copy standards on the “Shop” to meet revenue targets. Liaise with key internal stakeholders within Standards Publishing to create a clear and communicated plan for Standards marketing in order that customers are communicated effectively focusing in on a sector approach.

This role will also be responsible for PAS lead generation as well as marketing support for the Distribution and Affiliates channel within single copy.  As well as the day to day ‘marketing champion’ for the shop re-design project, ensuring that they attend all project re-design meetings and that the status of the project is communicated to all stakeholders. 

This role pays circa £32,000

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Strategic Marketing

  • Working closely with the Standards & Publishing Managers, Sector Managers and Single Copy Marketing Executives to agree a marketing year plan for Standards which covers: how we focus and prioritise product by sector and the marketing approaches, including value propositions.
  • Monitor the quality and impact of copy-writing in support of individual Standard sales in addition to setting Standards in a sector context outlining key industry/market developments to support our goal of becoming thought leaders in key sectors.
  • Work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Executives within the single copy team on campaign execution managing workloads and time to ensure delivery of key objectives to budget and deadline.
  • Establish this role as the ‘go to’ for the PAS strategic and tactical marketing approach within Standards and work closely with the PAS team to increase sales and meet revenue targets.
  • Deputise for Senior Marketing Manager as and when required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • 3+ years experience executing campaigns in an equivalent end to end digital marketing role.
  • Graduate (or equivalent) with marketing qualification desirable (eg CIM)
  • Proven commercial approach.
  • Excellent understanding of all marketing channels coupled with current understanding of marketing trends and opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written adapted to all levels of internal colleagues and external contacts representing the BSI brand.
  • Proven experience of developing strong internal working relationships across functions and ability to influence.
  • Excellent copywriting skills and the ability to identify the ‘story’ around a product.
  • External/industry focus with ability to bring new ideas and experiment.
  • Proactive and results orientated, with the ability to balance multiple projects and spontaneous marketing opportunities that may arise
  • IT literate, (competent in the use of MS Office, media map tools)
  • Understand the legal aspects of marketing from Data Protection, Trade Descriptions to Distance Selling
