The University seeks a high caliber seasoned professional to play the role of senior manager in setting up, managing and successfully delivering construction projects on campus.

Reporting to the Director of CDO, the appointee will manage and oversee capital and maintenance projects from inception to commissioning, handover and completion to ensure that the projects’ aims and objectives are delivered within expectations, and in accordance with the agreed time/quality/cost parameters, sustainability and maintenance goals, legislation and University’s procedures. He/She will work with the University’s stakeholders including staff and students to help identify the key objectives for each project and manage external consultants to create innovative solutions. The appointee will act as the coordinator between the external consultants and the University user groups throughout the project lifecycle to ensure that the key objectives are met and well-communicated at all stages.

The appointee will plan for and execute design and construction works projects, oversee and actively manage project managers and senior facilities officers in the delivery of other smaller scale design/construction projects. He/She will serve as the key liaison person for both internal and external stakeholders related to each project.

The appointee will also work closely with colleagues in CDO to promote and raise common standards of performance and behaviors on the delivery of the capital projects and ensure that the best practice is adopted/highest standard is achieved with minimum disruption to core service. He/She will identify process improvements that will support the project managers to deliver projects in line with expected outcomes.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in surveying, engineering, architecture or a construction related discipline with a relevant professional qualification (e.g. member of HKIE, HKIA, RIBA etc). The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of 15 years of experience in Architecture/Engineering/Construction and Project Management, and extensive and successful track record in project management gained in the delivery of large scale capital projects. He/She should also possess the following:

• Proven experience in leading and managing professionals and consultants; managing design teams and budgets and in developing policies, financial plans, and master planning.
• A track record of delivering sustainable design in capital projects and compliance with safety procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English as well as strong planning and presentation skills.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
