YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Intellectual Property Scientist, are to: 

 

  • Responsible for Intellectual Property strategy and portfolio development of emerging technologies;
  • Proactively identify and initiate patentable inventions and monitor research progress through review, evaluation and prioritization of internal research projects;
  • Conduct timely FTO evaluations by conducting searches of patent and scientific literature and initiate;
  • Be responsible for Intellectual Property assessments to minimize Freedom to Operate risks, identify Intellectual Property opportunities, and patentability through reviews of competitive filings and Intellectual Property landscape;
  • Research teams and drive alignment with Intellectual Property law;
  • Manage our existing patent portfolio;
  • Draft patent applications according to business needs and priorities; provide support to patent preparation and prosecution;
  • Develop, training, and support of Intellectual Property processes and strategy, awareness, engagement, and compliance;
  • Manage Intellectual Property clearance for external presentations, publications, collaboration sharing, and material transfers;
  • Build cross-functional relationships to collaboratively partner with the business and effectively network within the Intellectual Property and Scientific communities.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • PhD with three years relevant experience, MS with five years relevant experience, or BS with seven years relevant experience;
  • Experience in evaluating & protecting intellectual property and external partners & agreement strategy;
  • Established ability to adapt to changing priorities and working on tight timelines;
  • Excellent skills in aggregating, organizing, analyzing, and reporting complex, multi-source information;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  •  Ability to interface effectively and influentially at all levels of the organization.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • USPTO Patent Bar.
