Job Description

The Microsoft HoloLens Team continues to innovate and develop ground-breaking augmented reality devices and innovative technology across computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, image and video processing, networking, and graphics. This role will be part of the System Program Management team that drives technology development, product design, product development, product manufacturing and organizational excellence to deliver world class products. 

  

We are seeking a Senior Hardware Program Manager to join our team.  The candidate will be a key member of our team, responsible for delivering manufacturing solutions by scoping the needs across multiple organizations and for providing system level solutions that bridge hardware and software.  The scope of this role includes driving decisions for feature sets and capabilities, creating and driving schedules, driving issues to closure, facilitating processes, and reporting on program progress.     

Responsibilities

As a Senior Hardware Program Manager, you will have responsibilities including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Provide manufacturing leadership for product system assembly and test across cross functional and cross organizational product development teams. 
  • Responsible for planning and execution of product launch activities in a contract manufacturing product model.
  • Manage contract manufacturer engagement during system builds. Establish legal contracts and author SOW. Obtain quotes, write POs, etc.
  • Interface across multiple teams outside of the immediate organization (e.g., manufacturing test engineering, software) to drive planning and readiness to support program. Ensure that test coverage is adequate from product specification perspective. Manage relevant budgets and development timelines as needed.
  • Organize, present, and document technical and program reviews/status to senior management to communicate readiness and execution.
  • Organize and help author technical and logistics related documents for customer use.
  • Must be willing and able to travel (domestic and international) to support design and manufacturing activities.
  • Transition operational responsibilities to the Sustaining Operations team after achieving launch targets.

  

Candidate qualifications:  

  • B.S./M.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a Manufacturing related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in program management within product development/engineering, manufacturing, or test engineering teams.
  • Responsibility for multiple deliver-to-market product development cycles in high performance products incorporating complex, cutting edge technologies. 
  • Hardware development experience.Experience interfacing with Software development teams is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional and cross-organizational experience, especially with test and software organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.Must be able to communicate complex issues and tradeoffs to development partners and management. Ability to define problems, distill data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening/ clearance requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings - Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
