AstraZeneca Durham has expanded and strengthened its respiratory products portfolio, delivering approvals and launches for multiple global inhalation products, with a robust pipeline in development. Under the direction of the VP, IPD, the Senior Director will oversee the staff, procedures, and ways of working, and continuous improvement of operations and productivity. The individual in this role will enable the realization of the company’s development and operations strategy in conjunction with global IPD initiatives, with a company-wide impact on a 5-year horizon.
What you will do:
Inspire, motivate and support multi-discipline and multi-functional organization of >120 people and direct line manager for Product development, manufacturing, analytical, project delivery, and site operations functions (~90 people).
Deliver industry-leading inhalation product programs that serve our patients through a balance of usability, feature set, high quality, cost, and time to market.
Support inhalation combination products through development, registration, tech transfer, process validation, and launch.
Oversee site facilities and operations teams with accountability to ensure a safe environment, suitable for functional activities, and deliver on-site financial and resource targets.
The incumbent will lead Lean initiatives, reflecting core operating principles and behaviors ensuring implementation success.
Leader of the site-level leadership team, a core member of the IPD Global Leadership Team, and the PT&D Extended/Senior Leadership Team.
Essentials:
Education:
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in pharmaceutics, chemistry, mechanical, biomedical engineering, or related field.
Required:
Minimum of fifteen years of leadership experience in the development of pharmaceutical combination products
Consistent record of setting priorities and completing projects on time and within budget, networking and stakeholder influencing, creating, and leading high-performance pharmaceutical product development teams.
Strong communicator with talent development and advocacy
Preferred:
Significant experience in inhalation product development
Proven record of driving value creation through innovation and organizational improvement
Proven track record of managing an effective team understands the importance of building strong engagement with employee populations.
