About the role
This newly-created position will play a pivotal role in the Global Sustainability Corporate Affairs team which comprises of external and internal communications, government affairs and policy professionals based across a number of countries. The team sits within the Global Corporate Affairs function, working closely with the Global Sustainability function and other departments.
This is a fast-paced, diverse role where you will help shape the success of one of the key strategic areas for the business and a driver of its reputation. The successful candidate will support the planning, development and delivery of strategic external communications including digital communications; external partnerships and programmes; and internal communications.
The candidate will lead on diverse projects including: enhancing AstraZeneca’s presence on external and internal digital channels; managing strategic programmes and partnerships; supporting briefings for senior leaders ahead of high-profile engagements; delivering and maximising the impact of stakeholder events (internal and external); developing creative assets including videos and animations to drive internal and external awareness of AstraZeneca’s delivery on its sustainability commitments.
The role will focus on global sustainability priorities and programmes, however the candidate will act as a critical business partner, advisor and support to regions and markets around the world.
The candidate
The candidate should have a personal passion for and in-depth understanding of sustainability issues. They should have experience in leading sustainability-related programmes and projects in other international organisations and be at ease translating complex sustainability-related concepts into clear, compelling communications campaigns. The candidate should enjoy coaching and supporting senior leaders and colleagues on the topic of sustainability communications. The candidate should also be action-oriented, diligent and a self-starter.
The new colleague should have a proven track-record in corporate communications - from strategic planning through to delivery and evaluation. The candidate will possess excellent writing skills, demonstrating both accuracy, an eye for detail and creativity. An in-depth understanding of and passion for leveraging digital communications – for external and internal channels - is important. Proven fluency in English is essential for the role.
A team player and natural collaborator, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to flex across the disciplines of communications to deliver impactful results and drive outcomes. Leadership of high-profile, complex programmes and events is critical, as is the ability to support and coach senior executives and deliver to the highest standards under pressure.
