Position Summary:

Canadian Solar is seeking for a Senior Analyst to join its Project and Structured Finance team.  As a member of the Project and Structured Finance team, the right candidate will have the opportunity to use business and analytical skills to support senior-level decision-making and support company success. This position will work closely with the other members of the global Project and Structured Finance team and various Energy Group departments to anchor project financing and M&A activities in the utility-scale solar space. The right candidate will be organized, able to manage multiple priorities, a good communicator, logical, detail-oriented, collaborative and confident. This position will report to a Senior Director within the Project Finance group and will be located in our Hong Kong office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage financial models of projects and portfolios for the process of raising construction debt, term debt, cash equity and M&A activities
  • Refine and improve MS Excel-based project finance models that serve project origination, development, construction, financing and equity partnership
  • Update and maintain complex internal project financial models with appropriate revenue, development and construction funding, tax and financing assumptions. Run scenarios to ensure optimized decision-making based on quantitative financial analysis
  • Support the negotiation and closing of construction debt, term debt and cash equity transactions, including the preparation, coordination and completion of financial model, independent engineer report, insurance consultant report
  • Coordinate with the finance, development, legal and engineering departments, and participate in internal risk management review process, to drive accuracy of project modeling, accuracy of economic results and expected IRR returns for senior management decision making and approval
  • Assist with preparation of proposals, information memorandums, presentations, project schedules and due diligence materials

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Math, Science, or other quantitative field with business or finance experience
  • Expert with MS Excel and possess advanced financial modeling and analysis techniques, with minimum 3+ years of Project Finance modeling experience
  • Strong quantitative aptitude, detail oriented, rigorous and creative in maintaining and refining financial models
  • Ability to work independently to research, analyze and develop financial assumptions, and the drive to maintain flexibility on assigned tasks due to changing priorities, timelines and different time zones
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization, collaborate across inter-departmental and cross-cultural teams to achieve objectives
