Job Description

Scrum Master, Source to Pay

Amgen is seeking a scrum master with passion for leading the innovation in the Source to Pay space to drive an ambitious contract lifecycle management program to evolve how Amgen handles contracts with external suppliers. The scrum master is a foundational role on a new Agile Product Team being formed to deploy groundbreaking solutions globally across Amgen. Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Coordinates and facilitates scrum team ceremonies, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement and grooming, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Provides mentoring on scrum methodology processes to ensure the team continues to evolve into a self-managing strong team
  • Helps the team break down requests into manageable stories and facilitates discussions on assigning story points
  • Reports and supervises progress of team activity during sprints to ensure sprint goals and objectives are met
  • Manages, resolves or calls out impediments as raised by individual team members and tracks team velocity
  • Represents the team during scrum of scrum meetings to ensure minimal distraction from outside influences while supervising progress of external dependencies
  • Support product owner to set shared expectations with effort required from team members across all user stories in each sprint
  • Schedules and facilitates product release planning activities including, where appropriate, approvals and communications
  • Maintains sprint documentation, monitoring and reporting
  • Effectively applies the decision-making framework (DAI) and engages organizational expertise in plan development
  • Takes accountability for the health of the team, shares standard methodologies and drives for continuous improvement
  • Maintains budgetary responsibility of projects

Basic qualifications

Master’s degree and 3 years of Project Management experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Project Management experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training and experience in Agile methodology and DevOps
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence
  • Basic understanding of Sourcing, Contracts, Requisition, invoice management, and payment processes
  • Skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge about tasks, backlog tracking, rundown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, effectively interacting with others and mentoring junior team members in geographically disbursed model
  • Experience leading change in a complex, matrix organization
  • Familiar with enterprise platforms like Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, SAP, Ariba, MuleSoft, Databricks, etc.
  • Experience with Implementing any ERP software is a plus
