Sales Training Specialist 
Band 6

Location: Basingstoke or remote anywhere in the UK



Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist Head of Global Sales Training & Development in the Implementation of the overall global sales training strategy that maximizes performance and sales results for all sales roles within MBD
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s), including but not limited to Global Marketing, Regional Marketing, Marketing Communications, Technical Support, Field Application Specialist and Engineers, to design and create global training content/material that are aligned with the marketing and organizational business goals, strategies and changing market landscape
  • Work with SME’s listed above to continually update all training content/material
  • Drive Mobile Learning platform strategy
  • Create and implement curriculum, courses, eLearning modules, pre-work, video challenges, assessments and class surveys on the Mobile Learning Platform
  • Create and Deliver Virtual Instructor Led Training as needed by the organization
  • Conduct as needed field travel with New Hires and identified sales representatives through working with the Regional Sales Managers
  • Provide feedback on observed behaviors (field rides, classroom etc.) to the respective Managers
  • Deliver or Assist in the delivery of formal training and onboarding programs, which could include but are not limited to the following: New Hire Training, Sales Product Training, New Product Launches, Mentorship program and Advanced Sales Training
  • Continually evaluate all sales training activities to identify areas for improvement and drive overall effectiveness
  • Responsible for measuring ROI of sales training programs.
  • Consistently increase knowledge and awareness of changes in the healthcare industry including healthcare reform and industry trends while keeping pace with training and development innovation
  • Help facilitate an official Mentor and or Field training program(s) for current and new mentors/field trainers. These programs will be an important step in the development of our sales team members who wish to take on more responsibility and an important tool for our new hires to shorten the ramp up time to results.
  • Contribute to the training content and delivery at the National Sales Meeting as well as Regional Training meetings.
  • Practice fiscal responsibility for budgetary and department expenses
  • Take on other roles and responsibilities that may be necessary to support the success of Thermo Fisher Scientific

  • Ability to provide candid feedback on opportunity areas with a balance of positive feedback and encouragement to keep new sales personnel motivated
  • Willingness to take initiative, seek out answers and follow up appropriately when a new hire presents with questions and needs that you are unable to immediately answer

  • Required from anyone coming into role from a sales role without training experience: Must be in good standing & have been in the field

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Experience with either Sales or Sales Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or experience working in a technical product support role
  • Exemplify strong customer service focus and timely responses to inquiries and needs
  • Display positive attitude with excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team setting
  • Possess excellent presentation and training skills
  • Up to 80 % Travel
