Purpose of the job:
・ Ensure growth and profitability of the RBM business in existing and new China customers
・ Contact new prospects in key markets and drives new product qualifications together with the AT-team
・ Provide market and customer information to the management based on thorough understanding of the local business and market dynamics.
Strategic focus:
・ Get full understanding of the China LIB market, in terms of end-applications, cell manufacturers and cathode (LCO) market size, as well as the competitive advantage of RBM, compared to our main competitors.
・ Increase the RBM-sales in defined customers in Chinese market, follow the growth of China LIB market, strengthen the RBM market position in China .
Main responsibilities:
As RBM sales manager in China, be responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with its customers. Through those relationships, the Jobholder is able to detect the real needs of its customers (in terms of products, volumes, commercial conditions,…). Annual or half-year contracts are being prepared and negotiated under the supervision of the Regional Head of Sales within the guidelines provided by the SVP.
・ Create a professional network at the Chinese OEMs (for portable electronics, automotive and energy storage systems) and influence them on the choice of battery materials for their final products
・ Give excellent input during the annual budgeting process, based on customer needs, activities of competitors, and future evolution of the allocated market. Inputs should be checked via a variety of routes.
・ Provide inputs for an adequate metal hedging strategy, define and realize commercial budget for the allocated market
・ Do market research, analysis, reporting and communication: The Jobholder will report and communicate market evolution analysis to BU Management
・ Marketing and communication: prepare communication materials to support promotion and marketing of existing and new rechargeable battery materials aiming at further increasing the value-creation of the RBM-business. Be responsible for RBM’s promotion activities in its geographical territory (China), including fairs, technical seminars
・ Get a deep understanding of the market movements, customer’s structure and internal decision making process, as well as the competition status
・ Actively identify and target new prospects in all target markets (Portable electronics, power tools, (H)EV, Energy Storage Systems,..)
・ Coordinate product forecast and hedging forecast
・ Promote the Umicore value of doing a sustainable business towards customer, responsible for the on time payment by customer
・ Report on a regular basis on activities
・ Steer the sales back-office department for efficient customer deliveries.
Functional requirements:
. 7~10 years of experience in Sales support or related area.
・ Computer skills: office software (Excel, PPT and Word)
・ Experience with metal hedging
・ SAP experience is a must
・ Fluent in English
Personal skills:
・ Stress resistant
・ Capable of dealing with the sometimes conflicting interest between customers and Umicore
・ Can work independently
・ Knows how to organize things, even in a fast changing environment
・ Takes ownership for the task assigned to him/her
・ Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
