Job Description

About the Role

  • Responsible for the coordination and maintenance of administrational requirements relating to workplace health and safety, risk,  social responsibility and environmental management across all 4 Wellington Hotels.
  • You will be responsible for supporting each business unit in the hotel in a Risk, Safety, Social Responsibiity and Environment capacity.
  • Act as VOICE committee secretary, set agenda, take and distribute minutes, maintain Hazard Registers, organise calendar of Voice meetings, updating after each Voice meeting.
  • You will train our team on our environmental program and WHS practices at the hotel.
  • This role manages the online incident/accident reporting tool, assist the departmental managers with investigations where required.

    What you will be doing:
  • Create and maintain annual calendar of health & safety activity
  • Maintain WHS noticeboards and ensure relevant information is available at all times to all staff members.
  • Create a monthly action plan and liaise with HODs to ensure activities are completed.
  • Manage the online incident / accident reporting tool.
  • Manage the contractor induction online tool.
  • Act as VOICE committee secretary, set agenda, take and distribute minutes, maintain Hazard Registers, organise calendar of Voice meetings, updating after each Voice meeting.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety related training is completed in a timely manner as per Training guidelines.
  • Carry out risk assessments when hazards are identified
  • Assist HODs in completing Health & Safety tasks, including hazards analysis and accident investigation.
  • Coordinate the hotel Wellness Week and Safety week. Assist in promoting a safety and wellness culture across all areas of the business.
  • Maintain training register for all WHS, security and social responsibility (WATCH, PCIDSS, RSA, Licensed Manager etc) training
  • Complete scheduled internal audits.
  • Manage employee return to work after injury.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records and reports

    Specific Requirements:
  •  An outgoing and approachable nature and ability to build relationships across all levels
  • Previous exposure to WHS, HR and knowledge of NZ employment legislation.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Ability to think outside of the square, always seeking a better way at conducting our business
  • Be self driven with strong organization, administration skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate with complete professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, exceptional personal presentation
  • Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or Human Resources desirable but not essential
  • Experience in a similar role advantageous
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand

  • We are looking for someone with New Zealand Occupational Health, and Safety Act  legislation knowledge.
  • You will have a passion for sustainability, coordinating events such as wellness and safety week & Tree’s for survival.
  • The successful candidate will be able to work closely with HODs, assisting with the creation of Risk Assessments.
  • This is a role that partners with the business to drive engagement and safe work practices to ensure the hotel meets guest and owner expectations.
  • You will be supported by The Talent and Culture Manager and the General Managers.
