Job Description
Key Responsibilities
● Lesson Planning & Delivery:
○ Develop and deliver high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate STEAM lessons
in Coding, Robotics, and Invention for elementary school students.
○ Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including hands-on activities,
experiments, and project-based learning, to enhance student understanding and engagement.
○ Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students, ensuring a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
● Classroom Management:
○ Maintain a well-organized and conducive learning environment, promoting
respect, collaboration, and creativity among students.
○ Manage classroom behavior effectively, using positive reinforcement techniques
and addressing any issues promptly.
● Partnership Teaching:
○ Travel to partnership sites, including International and Bilingual schools, to deliver STEAM classes and workshops.
○ Collaborate with partner school staff to ensure seamless integration of MAST programs into their curriculum.
● Student Assessment:
○ Assess and monitor student progress through regular evaluations, quizzes, and
project assessments.
○ Provide constructive feedback to students and parents, identifying areas for
improvement and celebrating successes.
● Professional Development:
○ Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in STEAM education.
○ Participate in regular professional development sessions to enhance teaching
skills and subject matter expertise.
● Curriculum Development:
○ Contribute to the development and refinement of MAST’s STEAM curriculum, incorporating new technologies, tools, and teaching methodologies.
○ Collaborate with the curriculum development team to create innovative and engaging learning materials.
Qualifications & Requirements
● Educational Background:
○ Bachelor’s degree or Education with a STEAM focus.
○ Teaching certification or relevant teaching experience is highly desirable.
● Experience:
○ Prior experience teaching STEAM subjects to elementary school students, either
in a formal school setting or through extracurricular programs.
○ Experience with hands-on teaching methods, including project-based learning, is
an asset.
● Skills & Competencies:
○ Strong knowledge of Coding, Robotics, and general STEAM principles.
○ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with
and inspire young learners.
○ Proficiency in classroom management and student engagement techniques.
○ Ability to adapt to different learning environments, including classroom, workshop, and remote settings.
● Personal Attributes:
○ Passionate about STEAM education and committed to fostering a love for
learning in students.
○ Creative, enthusiastic, and energetic with a positive attitude.
○ Willingness to travel to different teaching sites within Shanghai.
● Language Proficiency:
○ Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Mandarin is a plus but not
mandatory.
