SCM PM, Total Cost Out & Advance Purchasing Manager

In this role you will plan, develop, coordinate and deploy the Program Management, Advance Purchasing activities and EMEA TCO process including idea generation, business-case development, cross-functional resource alignment, project-implementation tracking, financial reporting and TCO process improvements. Monitor and report negotiation activities execution affecting the region, ensuring alignment across Purchasing and Regional goals.

Additionally, this role includes benchmarking of Eaton cross-business and cross-regional TCO processes, as well as industry best practices. Lead a team of qualified resources ensuring alignment with EAM, CDC and CVT product lines requirement on supply chain. Identify, initiate, plan and control, execute, deliver and close the SCM projects portfolio. During the early stages of projects, provide the BOM cost estimation supported by early supplier engagement and during the entire project life cycle ensure the achievement of the total landed cost targets. Through the implementation of the Advance Purchasing process, identify the supply base that will provide with the latest technologies required to satisfy customers’ needs. The SCM PM and TCO & AP is responsible for the Program Management, Early Supplier Engagement and Advance Purchasing functional excellence and leverages the Eaton Business System and its tools such as Pro Launch NPD, STP, and Change Management.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Program Management and Advance Purchasing team
  • Deliver the SCM inputs to the Product Lines (i.e. project portfolio management, BOM estimation, tracking and landed cost target achievement, early supplier engagement, etc.)
  • Champion the development and deployment of key standard Program Management processes and provide direction to the PM team to support New Product Development and Standard Transition Projects
  • Works in coordination with Product Lines engineering, manufacturing and research center to identify new technology needs. Research the market for appropriate supply chain and works in collaboration with the purchasing and SDE teams to embed the target suppliers in Eaton supply chain
  • Manage, coordinate, align and lead the review of SCM projects
  • Collaborate with regional Purchasing Manager and respective commodity teams to ensure sourcing strategies align with strategic and profit plans.
  • Establish key operating metrics developing appropriate objectives and performance expectations of direct reports to ensure business goal achievement.
  • Personally manage sensitive programs that have a limited “need to know” group
  • Lead as Process Owner for TCO all the processes at Product Line level accountable to creating & implementing PP Cost Out plans, continuous improvements (VAVE) and identification of opportunities to expand best practices across VG businesses. Conduct benchmarking of Eaton and industry- best practices.
  • Lead cross functional team (Product Lines/Quality/SCM/ Manufacturing/ Logistics/Finance) to select, validate and execute VAVE projects while managing projects timeline and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with the TCO Council to define the 3Y idea generation strategy and create a master schedule of events for a rolling 18-month period. 
  • Supervise the team in developing business cases for TCO ideas to build 3Y Pipeline and in preparation for Decision Gate Committee reviews
  • Assign Project Owners and ensure detailed implementation plans are put in place.  Follow up with Project Owners to ensure milestones are being completed to project timelines. Execute VA/VE and Resourcing projects.
  • Support commodity managers during negotiation process ensuring adherence to Regional goals
  • Act in alignment with SCM functions, like Commodity Mgrs, Material Managers (Plant-Division) and maintain the focused on the “big picture” of the business strategy, supporting the SCM commodity mgr accordingly.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in operations management, engineering, or supply chain; MBA & PMP certification preferred.
  • 7-10 years in SCM and /or program management.
  • Experience in large multi-national manufacturing organizations with complex matrix structures.
  • Experienced team leader with outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills to drive organizational change
  • Ability to define problems, eliminate root cause and create supply chain solutions and/or process Improvements
  • Effective people/interpersonal, facilitation, negotiation, communication and customer care skills.
  • Strong communication and Presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of various commodities, cost drivers, and manufacturing techniques
  • VG EMEA products design and manufacturing knowledge
  • Ability to think and act strategically
  • Understanding of key financial metrics
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and specifications
  • Working toward or certified Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • knowledge of, and Ability to apply, purchasing and supplier management best practices - including supplier selection, APQP, performance metrics/reporting, quality assurance, and continuous process improvement methodologies.
  • Experienced with program/project management tools and techniques
  • Fluency English. Any other European languages would be a plus
