As a RnD Senior SW Project Manager you will be responsible for developing or creating software products, systems, services or technologies for ABB´s Business Area by leading and managing the execution of one or more R&D sub-projects of limited complexity to meet project targets, in Robotics & Discrete Automation Business Area in Shanghai, China, ensure that all related activities are executed in accordance with internal procedures and project models.

Reporting to the R&D Project Manager, you will lead in partnership with R&D project manager.

Your responsibilities

• Leading x-site SW teams, using own technical and project management expertise to manage sub-projects and project activities. Motivating and leading team members to accomplish all tasks and milestones
• Defining and suggesting to R&D Project Manager scope of work, cost/budget, resources required, time schedule, and detailed work allocation for the activities. Effectively organizing, monitoring and controlling activities to ensure achievement of planned stage-gates, tracking project cost and financials and reports deviations
• Supporting and participating in handing over project results to relevant receiver. Ensuring project activities follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with standard ABB internal directives and procedures
• Identifying, containing and reducing risk together with R&D Project Manager. Ensuring appropriate handling of change requests, transparency around unforeseen results/events and identified risks and makes sure that they are communicated and acted upon
• Managing and expanding relationships with other R&D teams in Technology Centers or Corporate Research Centers, stakeholders, internal functions and external relevant parties (e.g. customers, academia)
• Communicating appropriate information to stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding and support
• Using input from others and providing support to colleagues or other functional teams on technical, quality and project management issues
• Ensuring understanding of customer value. Taking into consideration requirements and demands coming from customers and from different ABB processes (sales, supply, production, etc.). Acting to ensure customer satisfaction and expectations

Your background

• A Master’s degree with 6+ years, major in EE, automation or computer and 3+ years of experience in software/firmware development
• 3+ years of experience in R&D SW project management in technical proficiency in global companies, embedded SW system is preferred
• Familiar with Scrum/SAFe process, related training is needed
• Agile PMP certification is preferred
• Excellent oral and written English
• Strong communication skill, highly responsible, self-motivated and autonomous atwork
• Good teamwork spirit and willing to contribute to the team’s success, capable of managing changes and multi-tasks during the development phase
