Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job:

Delivering product technologies and innovations that win in the marketplace is crucial to the success of Unilever. Recent years have seen massive advances in the microbiology sciences and technologies that are offering unprecedented insights that affect key consumer conditions relevant to Unilever’s core Personal Care business. Exploiting this new capability is a significant challenge and will require Unilever to fully leverage leading-edge capability and intelligently focussing on science space aligned to consumer needs.

Main Accountabilities:

Successful candidate need to demonstrate strong ambition to succeed in an innovation driven research environment. He/She will adapt emerging science knowledge in microbiome to deliver new insights and product technologies into the Personal Care business, specifically in the application of Scalp health and Skin Care.

The position requires strong scientific expertise in microbiology and microbiome area, with the capability to lead a technical project including new method development, planning, execution as well as frequent communication with local and global stakeholders, to achieve solid and impactful delivery into technology pipelines.

Good communication skills will be required, to interact with local and global peers for alignment, with Category and Design team to ensure technology transferring into products; and with potential OI patterners to accelerate new technology development.

Key Requirement:

? Ph.D. in Microbiology, or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry

Overseas educational or working experience is preferred as is working experience in the FMCG or pharmaceutical sectors.

? Strong hands on experience in microbiology and microbiome related research with proven record of successful delivery of technical solutions to a project

? Experienced in bioinformatics or advanced ex-vivo measurements will be a plus

? Awareness of relevant science and how this can be translated to drive new technology development

? Be pro-active and self-motivated to engage with external science leaders and learn new skills in relatively short time frame

? Proficient in both written and spoken English

? Excellence in team work skills
