The Division of Public Policy (PPOL) and the Institute for Public Policy (IPP) engage in public policy research that is interdisciplinary in nature. PPOL and IPP draw upon the science, technology and social science expertise of the scholars at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to foster a world-class research unit in public policy, using the latest data analytic techniques and scientific findings to develop science-based evidence-driven policy solutions.

We are looking for Research Assistants/Post-doctoral Fellows/Research Associates in the following three areas: (i) science, technology and innovation policy; (ii) environmental and sustainability policy; and (iii) crisis management. The appointees will focus on literature review, in-depth interviews data analysis, and writing of reports and research papers. They are expected to work in a team and coordinate well with different members.

Applicants should have a recognized master’s degree (for Research Assistant position) or a PhD degree (for Post-doctoral Fellow/Research Associate position) in related disciplines, such as public policy, public administration, economics, political sciences, science, technology and innovation studies, environmental studies, etc. Applicants should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in common computer applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and Chinese word processing), and experience in conducting statistical analyses. Bachelor’s degree holders with outstanding experience in the field are also welcome to apply for the Research Assistant position. (Duration: 6 months, renewable)
