The School of Journalism and Communication is looking for a self-motivated candidate with solid technical skills, strong interest in computational social science, knowledge of news media, and good problem-solving skills to join the School’s new research project on Chinese media.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Journalism and Communication or related disciplines; (ii) advanced skills and experience in text mining, Natural Language Processing, and data visualisation; (iii) good communication and writing skills; and (iv) self-motivation and a strong sense of responsibility.

The appointee will be working for the School's new project, which uses computational methods to study Chinese media. He/She will (i) co-ordinate research needs and provide technical support, including text mining, Natural Language Processing, data visualisation, and server maintenance (infrastructures and web services); (ii) oversee daily operations of the project; (iii) participate in the writing of research articles and reports; and (iv) perform other duties as assigned.

Appointment will be made on contract basis for two years commencing as soon as possible.
