The research assistant under significant direction from the Director of Research, contributes to ongoing research projects by helping to provide competitive, market, and other analyses. This role supports more experienced colleagues to provide research to senior management and client representatives as well as provide experienced colleagues with relevant research and analysis on client segments, the competitive landscape, and the industry environment.

This role will also perform analyses on market and client insights to inform solution development or enhancements. Learns how team integrates with these work groups and the types of data, information, and resources that can be shared/leveraged to accomplish daily work. No direct reports Contributes to the achievement of team objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Assist the Director of Research with creation of analysis based on key product sales and flow trends sourced from the unique datasets available at BNY Mellon.  The output of such research will appear in printed reports, blogs and presentations to drive client engagement and thought leadership for the Data and Analytics Solutions, Applications team.
  • Under the direction of the Director the candidate will be expected to collaborate with internal experts on the Application team and other experts in the creation impactful analytical presentations that are released to both clients and industry groups based on historical and predictive trends
  • The Lead Analyst will have strong quantitative ability in terms of core statistical analysis as well as an understanding and appreciation of how predictive analytics and machine learning techniques are used to create unique insights.

The Experience You Will Bring…

  • Financial industry experience preferred.
  • The candidate must possess a core understanding of the financial marketplace and the use of financial products such as Mutual Funds, ETFs, and Separately Managed Accounts to meet the investment needs of the end investor.  An understanding of Modern Portfolio Theory will be extremely helpful in understanding various demand preference and drivers for products based on dimensions such as performance, risk, sustainability, expense.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Advanced/graduate degree preferred. 3-5 years of total work experience. Securities, financial products and/or the finance industry experience preferred. Applicable local/regional licenses or certifications as required by the business.
