JOB SUMMARY

Develop, implement and monitor industrial safety programs within assigned region to prevent work-related injuries/illnesses and ensure compliance with government regulations. Coordinate with Engineering organizations and Operations Management in assessment of EH&S risks, revises production processes to minimize hazards to the employees. Ensures work place conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health regulations. Investigate safety concerns and makes recommendations on corrective actions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? This job requires an incumbent to independently coordinate programs, often managing issues at the Division level and working senior staff.

? Monitors the flow of hazardous material within the region. Institutes procedures on proper labeling, handling, and reporting of these materials. Develops hazardous incident procedures and trains site Subject Matter Expert’s and employees on proper methods of control and clean-up.

? Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental and safety programs including hazard communication, control of change, personal protective equipment, dangerous goods – hazardous materials management, regulatory reporting and data collection.

? Reviews manufacturing processes for safety concerns including employees' chemical exposure, machine operations, and lifting requirements. Studies operators' actions and identifies hazardous work place condition or practices. Consults with site resources to establish protocols and monitoring programs for sampling and measurement of air quality, noise level, etc.

? Leads regional Safety Summit Meetings to identify safety concerns and make recommendations. Performs facility tours and inspections of manufacturing operations, office, and shipping areas as well as the facility's grounds. Ensures compliance with safety policies including operating procedures and protective clothing requirements. Investigates reported accidents and concerns. Mentors sites for the implementation of Global and Regional safety initiatives.

? Coordinates with process engineering departments and operations management to review and revise process procedures, chemicals and equipment. Analyzes impact of alternatives in terms of employee’s safety, environmental impact, financial impacts, and production capabilities.

? Meets with outside vendors to review equipment being considered for purchase. Presents formal recommendations to engineering & operations management.

? Develops global criteria for ergonomic design of workstations and operations processes to reduce the risk of repetitive motion and musculoskeletal injuries.

? Provides or facilitates training for process engineer ergonomic skills development. Collaborates with other corporate groups MSD data and performance to measure success of programs and initiatives.

? Develops employee’s safety/environmental training and awareness programs. Audits site employee safety orientations, hazardous communication training, hazardous materials management and emergency evacuation training for effectiveness and records to meet Jabil, governmental and regulatory requirements.

? Coordinates the collection and collation of safety performance data from all sites to facilitate reporting and analysis of performance to senior management.

? Provide safety and industrial hygiene consulting services to facilities to help assure compliance with federal (NOM-005-STPS-1998, Brazil SUS Article 205 Sections II and VIII, OSHA, SEMARNAT, EPA), state and local regulations. Ensures administrative compliance including the filing of required hazardous material logs. etc.

? Facilitates Jabil customer requirements as well as Jabil Sr. Management initiatives to implement site-regional and/or global certification programs at all levels required. Consults with site resources to establish safety and health management systems as needed.

? Networks with professional organizations and industry trade associations to leverage the industry knowledge base in the safety and industrial hygiene profession. Stays current with regulatory and technical development in the field by personal review of industry journals –publications and training/seminars.

? May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

? Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.

? Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil’s software packages.
