As R&D Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for all the R&D related activities in Electrification Business Area in Xiamen, China.

Reporting to the R&D Technology Manager you will be responsible for R&D project operation and product design according to the customer’s needs and new technology development trends.

Your responsibilities

• Managing R&D projects according to ABB project management process
• Leading or participating MV switchgear R&D work according to project requirement, including mechanical components and electrical components 3D and 2D design and preparing related project documents
• Leading or conducting related analysis and simulation during product development
• Guiding or participating prototype manufacturing and type tests
• Being responsible for problem analysis and solving of product technical related issues, providing technical support
• Cooperating with other departments and other TCs, local business areas and product groups to finish project and achieve the targets on time

Your background

• 5+ years of experience in power products (Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, apparatus) and 2+ years of experience in R&D project management, switchgear monitoring and diagnostic design
• Sound knowledge on power systems, IEC/GB/DL standards, MS office tools, solidworks, auto-CAD, SAP, and other related tools
• Familiar with manufacture processes of various parts, new power products technology development trends such as switchgear monitoring and diagnostic etc.
• A bachelor’s degree or above in in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical design
• Fluency in English with good communication and presentation skills
• Good teamwork spirit, able to adapt to cross-cultural working environment and to take responsibility and pressure. Agile thinking, with innovative spirit and consciousness
• Experience in quality tools (such as DFM/A, FMEA, six-sigma) and mechanical and electrical simulations
